I Teach

I love sharing my passion for health and physicality with anyone who will listen.  I began working as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor after graduating from the University of Utah with a B.F.A in Modern Dance.

As a dancer I believe that exercising with proper form is paramount to derive absolute benefits from the work.  My classes and training sessions emphasize working through correct posture and alignment and are individually tailored to suit participants needs.

“Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional, and mental states.”  ~Carol Welch

I offer classes and privates at my studio, Gracefulfitness Training, in Charlottesville, Virginia, as well as around town.

Your training session is for you.

You want a yoga class?  You’ve got it!

You want a high-intensity interval workout? No problem.

Need a running coach?  Yep, I do that too.

How about a mat Pilates session?  Sure thing.

Interested in a personalized home workout?  I’ll outline one for you and we’ll go over the exercises together.

Not sure what you want/need?  We’ll figure it out together based on your goals, lifestyle, and desire.

30 minute session $30

45 minute session $40

60 minutes session $50

Work out with a friend or two!  Training with a friend can provide reliability and extra motivation.  Add $10 per additional person for 30 minute sessions and $15 per additional person for 45 minute sessions.

I also offer training sessions in your home.  This is a great option if you have kids at home with you or would prefer to learn how to exercise in your own living room.   50 minute sessions are just $50 within 5 miles from the studio, for locations further than 5 miles travel time compensation will be negotiated.

Training sessions are available 7 days a week by advance appointment.

  1. When are you going to start offering night and/or weekend classes?

  2. I shared your blog with several of my friends, and we’re all interested in trying one of your classes. We all work during the weekday and can’t make your current times. I know we’ll try it if you have a Saturday morning at like 8:00.

  4. Hello!

I am going to be in Cville to visit a friend over memorial day weekend (Friday-Monday) and was wondering if you’d be teaching anything then!?

  5. I just moved to Charlottesville. I was a dance major in undergrad and I’m desperate to find a modern class in the area. Found your name on Miki Liszt’s First Fridays page. Any new developments in an adult modern class?

      Hi Jessica,
The adult Modern scene is slim around these parts, very sadly. I teach at the community college and at Charlottesville Performing Arts School but I rarely attend class. Miki has a lovely class but the schedule isn’t regular because she travels a lot. I taught an intermediate modern series thru ACAC over the winter and it was awesome, I’m trying to run one again in the fall. Can I add your e-mail to my mailing list? I’d also be happy to get together and chat some time!

  6. I’d be interested in an adult modern class as well! Let me know whenever it starts and feel free to add me to your email list :)

    • Great! I will!

    • Hi,
That’s at least two of us! :)
I’m still here and searching for dance! I’m 6 months pregnant, but bursting into tears every time I see dance because I miss dancing so much (and because I’m a bag of hormones right now, haha!). So is the CPAS class the place to be? I didn’t see that one on your list of teaching before, but I am very excited to try it out this Tuesday if it is an appropriate place for me (I can take care of my own preggo-modifications). I’m already on your email list. Thanks!

      • Hi Jessica,
The Tuesday night CPAS class is on for another three weeks (thru Dec. 18th) and has moved up to 8:15pm. It is an intermediate Modern class and is small (3-4 students). I am still working on my classes for next semester but I hope to offer either/both Tuesday nights 5:45pm or Wednesday nights 7pm. Either/both classes would be downtown and around $10 for a drop in.
