Living the Good and Active Life
Whew, I am going to be sore tomorrow! What a fantastically active day I am having.
My day started with a gentle yoga class at the local YMCA taught by none other than my fabulous big sister. I had been avoiding yoga for a few weeks. I knew that it was just what my body was craving but I couldn’t seem to get myself on the mat. This morning I broke through that resistance and my body said “thank you, thank you, thank you”, especially my hips.
After lunch the hubby, my younger sister, my brother, my niece, and I hit the Greenbrier River Trail. This trail is one of those great “rails to trails” where they converted an old railroad track into a multi-use gravel trail. Tate ran, brother and niece biked, and sister and I walked. We all met up at the swimming hole for a dip.
The river is so low that it is a little too warm but it is still refreshing.
On the way back to the car we got caught in a huge downpour!
We were soaked through by the time we reached the parking lot.
After a quick dry off I headed back to the Y for a Zumba class. Do you know about this Zumba thing? It is a BLAST! I think I grinned nonstop for the entire hour, how can you not when you are shaking it like crazy! If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying Zumba yet, seek it out! It is a dance aerobics class to latin music and dance steps, which translates into a lot of shaking and grooving. The dancer in me was SO happy to be moving to the music again, it’s been way too long.
Here are the pictures of “weighted walking” exercises that I promised yesterday
Bicep curl
Lateral raise
Overhead press
Front raise with tricep extension
Overhead tricep extension
I am off to see Brown Chicken Brown Cow at the local pub! Who knows, maybe there will be a little more dancing in my day!
