Peaches!

Yesterday morning started with a great breakfast and a “Quick Fix” yoga session on the front porch.

That brown lump is a half a leftover roasted sweet potato, sooo good!

I am all about the exercise dvd’s these days, in fact I hit the porch late afternoon again for Kathy Smith’s “new Matrix Method”.  I love Kathy Smith, she is classic and yet keeps up with exercise trends and methods.  Her instruction is clear and motivating without being “you can do it” ad nauseam.  This dvd is a mix of cardio, upper body (with hand weights), and legs (loads of lunges) so I am counting it as my cardio dvd and arms for Mission Get Moving.

Yesterday afternoon was spent doing one of my favorite activities, fruit harvesting!  Tate, his brother, our sister-in-law, her daughter, and I went to Morgan Orchards for a picnic and peaches.  I made a quinoa, black bean, and corn salad for lunch

It turned out great.  Into the bowl went,

  • black beans, quinoa, raw fresh corn
  • chopped tomatoes
  • fresh basil and flat leaf parsley
  • salt, pepper, and liquid aminos

Simple and delicious with a good dose of protein (corn and beans=complete protein, quinoa=complete protein) and fiber.

And then it was peach time

I got to snuggle with baby Jean Louise (my sister-in-law’s sister’s baby, our family is not a tree but a forest 🙂 ).

Sophia climbed the tree to reach the very ripest and biggest peaches.  Oh, they are SOOOO good!

Our take home was about 16 pounds, we plan to freeze and maybe make a jar of brandied peaches.

Will and Rebecca took home nearly 40 pounds! They are all about the canning and processing.

I was so exhausted last night I was really excited about vegging in front of the tube.  I haven’t done that in a little while and two episodes of Project Runway and an early to bed were exactly what I needed.

Tomorrow morning we go to Charlottesville to get our house inspected! If all goes well, we will be handing over the check and getting the keys on September 3rd!! I did a little internet retail therapy last night and ordered a new bedding set.  Luckily, we still have a gift card left from our wedding three years ago because we need to buy sheets and towels and little things like that.  I struggle between feeling anti-consumerism and really wanting to shop!  Our motto for building our new home is “Don’t bring anything into your home that is not beautiful or useful”.

I have a long “to do” list for today, including running and yoga so I’d better get to it.

Have a great Sunday!
