I FINALLY got some sleep!
Ever since we moved here three weeks ago I feel like I have been running up my sleep deficit without any relief. I have even laid down a few times to try to nap and it didn’t happen. It really hit me hard yesterday afternoon and I gave up on anything productive by 4 o’clock, opting instead to catch up on Grey’s Anatomy and Desparate Housewives.
I did manage to make some very nice pumpkin, lima bean, and herb soup that will be lunch today but by 8:30pm it was time to head to bed. Lights off was just after 10 and I fell asleep quick, woke up just a few times and never for long, and got up at 8:15! I feel like a new women!
A new sore women that is.
I took my first yoga class at Ashtanga Yoga Charlottesville yesterday and I am feeling my upper back and hip flexors today. The class was the noontime hourlong vinyasa taught by Annie. She is very creative in her flow, adding twists variations and transitions that I hadn’t experienced before. Kath was in class and it was really fun to see a familiar face and practice next to each other. We have some fun double dates coming up this week with her and her husband, Matt. Tate and I love having couple friends to do things with and I think we will make a great foursome.
Back to yoga, AYC offers a stellar new student rate of one month unlimited for $50 so that’s what I am doing right now. My plan is at least 3 classes a week for the month. It will be a great compliment to all the running I plan to do in the coming weeks.
Speaking of running, over breakfast I am debating how to schedule my day.
(a puddle of homemade plain yogurt, fresh pureed pumpkin, 1/2 defrosted peach, 1/2 chopped apple, flax seeds, cinnamon, and stevia)
A run this morning is non-negotiable. But to yoga at noon or not? To volunteer at the food bank today or wait until Friday? I think this is what I have to do
- Run
- Revise and print resume
- Write cover letter
- Buy ink (actually that has to happen before the two above)
- Maybe yoga at noon
Now, long run or not? I can be horribly indecisive sometimes! (drives Tate nuts in the grocery store ;))
Tate and I have errands and outings from about 4pm on so I better get moving!
Thanks for update. Enjoy your VERY healthy lifestyle. We’re off to water aerobics–dinner tonite in friends Sukah.
Thanks and YOU enjoy your VERY healthy lifestyle!
My upper back is sore too!!! Weird!
handstands? even though mine lasted about .5 seconds…
Mmmm, pumpkin and yogurt, that sounds delish!!
it’s a great combo, tasty, nutritious, and low-cal for a big bowl! cinnamon is a necessary addition to bring out the natural sweetness of the pumpkin and yogurt and to spice things up.
