Coolest Small Town
Whew, what a weekend!
Tate and I spent it here
For Bridge Day
Check out this youtube clip of the jumpers! We, sadly, couldn’t get close enough to get any good pictures. We had decent sight lines though and my heart retracted with each jump, so crazy!
The weekend was all about good friends
Rachel and Jorge drove over from Columbus, Ohio. We met these lovely people in Peru, became great friends, and all moved to the States. It’s an international BFFery!
We enjoyed the gorgeous colors
And lots of good food (of course!)
Our campsite became the breakfast hangout because Tate and I were serving up oats and coffee! I made sure to pack extra of both and we would make big batches until everyone was wired and full (and warm, it was a little cold to be camping!).
Tate and I lived in the Fayetteville area for years as summer raft guides and it was really nice to return, I LOVE that area. There is amazing hiking, boating, rock climbing, mountain biking, and trail running. But, alas, there are not many jobs outside of the tourist industry and the tourist season and it is a teeny tiny town. So, I won’t be moving there any time soon.
Back to Charlottesville we came, arriving home Sunday night ready to crash. I actually slept really well over the weekend, especially when you consider that we were sleeping in the back of my Subaru (Hotel Subie!) and it was nearly freezing! But between the 6 or 7 miles we walked on Saturday and being outside (and, yes, partaking in some wine drinking 😉 ) the entire weekend, we were pooped!
Yesterday I started a new job! I am working at an orchard farm stand until Thanksgiving. I got hired on Thursday last week and worked for 10 hours without sitting down yesterday. Wham, way to ease back into the working world, no? The orchard has gorgeous surroundings and nice co-workers. It was exactly what I was looking for, something to fill in my time and slow the outflow of cash until we get the clinic next month.
Off to yoga this morning and then work!
