Appy Alloween

This time last year Tate and I were living in Lima, Peru!

Trick or treating has infiltrated Lima and these days kids dress up and go door to door,  yelling “APPY ALLOWEEN”.  Sadly for them, most homes still aren’t hip to the idea and most bells go unanswered!  Halloween is such a new cultural addition that the local grocery store imported pumpkins and had carving classes!

We had an international Halloween last year indeed, surrounded by great friends from all over the world. (Ex-pats gotta stick together!)

What I was is not really important (it was kinda lame).  What is important is that it was a great party!

Today is starting very nicely and I am thinking it’s going to be a fun day.

Tate and I haven’t had a Sunday morning at home together in weeks!  We celebrated with “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me”, coffee, and frittata

This eggy deliciousness is chockfull of green peppers, bok choy, tomatoes, dill, basil, and oregano.  The veggies are from my dad’s garden and the herbs are from ours.

Nom nom…

On the agenda for the rest of the day is a nice long run (6.5 miles), yoga, grocery shopping, and handing out candy to the little devils (and princesses!).

I have been “resting” the last two days.  In other words, I have felt NO desire to exercise.  I tried to go for a run on Friday but it felt like an obligation and so I let it go.

Tate and I did go on a long walk on our way to see hear the President on Friday night.

Due to our roundabout way of walking to the Downtown Mall, by the time we arrived at 5:20pm the line to get in was already over 1/3rd of a mile long and three people wide!

We opted for a burger (for Tate) and wine-tasting (for both of us 🙂 ) while we waited for the 7:30pm speech instead of standing in line.

Although my view of the stage was more than partially obstructed…

…it was awesome to hear the president speak.  And it was really neat to be in a crowd of thousands who were all silent as we strained our ears to hear every word.  If someone tried to so much as whisper they got shushed mute.

It’s one of those days when it’s warmer outside than inside our house!  Burrrr! I am stubbornly holding off on turning on the heat.  This morning it was 56 in the living room!  Tate asked me what the threshold is for us to turn it on and I said November ;).   We always keep the thermostat pretty low anyway, 65 or so.  I don’t mind wearing socks and a sweater inside but I hate it when my nose is cold (which it is right now!).

Time to run and warm up!
