Flying South

November 14, 2010 by gracefulfitness 2 Comments

Sunny South Florida.

It’s just like I remember.  Flowers are blooming, bananas are hanging from the bush, birds are chirping.

My trip down here yesterday was exceptionally easy.  Departure wasn’t until 12:40pm so I spent the morning having coffee talk with my mama and then squeezed in a fast and quick run (25 minutes of all out running).  At about 11:45am I left for the airport.  The smallest airport ever.

And this picture was taken from my free parking space!  SO convenient!

Yes, this is West Virginia.  The only restaurant at this tiny airport is this one.

Look closer.

Aww yeah.

My only complaint about my first flight is that someone was ripping a** the whole time!  Every 5 minutes the air was contaminated with the foulest stench!  Change in cabin pressure!  Seriously people, not cool!  It was a 50 seater so there wasn’t much air to begin with, blech!

My connection through Atlanta was tight but I calculated that I had just enough time to speed walk from an arrival gate at the far end of concourse D to a departure in the far end of A.  If you know that Atlanta airport you know this ain’t no joke.  I am pretty sure it was at least a half a mile.  I broke into a jog for the last leg.  I realize I could have taken the train or, at least, the moving sidewalk.  But that’s not how I roll.

When I arrived at the gate, out of breath and starting to sweat, my “zone” was already boarding!

I went straight to the rehab facility where my grandfather is recovering from his valve replacement surgery.  His recovery is going well but it is a slow process.  The physical therapist told my grandmother that my grandfather was overmotivated with his exercises!  This is actually not a good thing in their eyes because some exercises and improvements can only make significant gains over a period of time.  If you rush training you risk injury and burn out. I certainly understand overtraining but I am so proud and inspired to see my grandfather giving his recovery 150 percent effort.

Time for a little yoga out here

and then back to the rehab center.
