Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!
Midnight was spent outside of the Main Street Market. Random. The 10 of us went for a little urban hike at 11:45 last night. The destination was downtown but it was really just time for a change of scenery. We only made it as far as 7th and Main Street (a very insignificant street corner close to downtown Charlottesville) before 12 rolled around. Looking back on New Year’s 2010 we will recall spending it on a quiet street corner, not a noise maker or champagne toast in sight.
I started a new tradition yesterday, a NYE yoga practice of 24 Sun Salutations. First 12 for 2010, then 12 for 2011. With each round I named the month I was on and conjured up images of that month such as holidays, weather, flowers. January-November were Sun Salutes A and December was celebrated with the B series. Perhaps the best part of the practice was that I did it outside. In a tank top!
All of our houseguests (we were 8 in the house last night!) have hit the road and Tate and I are feeling like it’s time to call it a day. We are both feeling pretty leftover, him from the booze and me from being sick and insomnia. I am contemplating a little strength training later but…later. 😉
Have a super-wonderful-fantastic Saturday!
p.s. The homemade pizza last night was delicious! The pictures do not do it justice so I won’t even bother sharing but fyi I used this recipe from All Recipes and it got rave reviews.

Your NYE yoga practice sounds like it was great! What a good idea. Good luck getting over your sickness. I have a cold right now that I’m hoping will go away before it gets bad!
We are making homemade pizza tonight… I might try that dough recipe!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Lindsey!
The NYE practice was awesome! Enjoy your pizza.
I think I am going to do some New Years Yoga now!
Happy New Year!
I love that you used the months of the year imagery!!
It was really awesome and helped me keep track, for some reason I have the hardest time counting Sun Salutes!
Happy New Year! Thanks for doing the comment commit – I feel like it helped get the New Year off to a better start. I’m looking forward to a year of being active!
Thank you for the New Year’s pictures of some of my favorite people. You have always been an inspiration to me and I am so enjoying reading your blog and thinking of new ways to incorporate healthy practices and food into my daily life. Happy New Year to my C-ville family. Much love!
Thanks for the comment and compliment, Momma Shay!
What beautiful photos! & what a beautiful NYE Sun Salutation practice! I love the idea of naming the months & conjuring images — I love celebrating the seasons! So…I’m just going to borrow that…if that’s ok with you. 🙂
Please borrow it! Take it! Own it! It was wonderful and a completely spontaneous idea. I lose track if I try to count Sun Salutes past about 3 but this kept me on focused on “which one” I was on. It also felt really rounded, you know, instead of linear like if you were counting from 1-12. Enjoy!
