Black-Eyed Monday
Remember when my grandfather had heart surgery a few months back? Well, he is having an excellent recovery and played 8 holes of golf yesterday! The ninth hole was too busy so he called it good at eight. ;). Yay for excellent recoveries!
The better part of my day was spent here
Yep, that’s our clinic! Core Integrated Health and Chiropractic.
See those big window upstairs? Those are the windows to my studio! If you are in the C’ville area, take note, I will begin offering classes and personal training in February.
Tate went into the office first thing and I hung back to work on my personal training re-certification exam and get a workout in. My workout this morning was Xtreme! This was my first time with this Exercise TV workout but definitely not the last.
Steve Maresca is a great instructor, even if he has some odd habits (like his little squat dance?) and all four of the workouts I’ve tried from him are challenging and fun. This one was maybe a little too challenging for me today, I barely made it through and was dripping sweat on the floor by the end of it even though my thermostat read 60*. Steve uses a medicine ball but I used my 10 pound kettlebell and then switched to a 5 pound hand-weight as I started to fatigue. It’s a full body workout and an awesome way to get a strength and cardio workout in your living room.
Today was gorgeous and I was happy to walk to the clinic (Tate took the car). Before I left I threw together a lunch to bring with me.
I started soaking some black-eyed peas on New Years Day but hadn’t gotten around to eating them yet. Are you familiar with the tradition of eating these dried beans on New Years Day? It is most commonly associated with the South but some say the tradition goes back to biblical times. I’ve never actually eaten black-eyed peas for New Years before but it sounded like a fun tradition to adopt.
And today being the first official day the clinic is open it seemed fitting that we eat something for luck and prosperity!
It seems like our luck is kicking in because tonight we are going over to Matt + Kath’s for dinner. They always make delicious and nutritious food and the conversation flows for hours! Dinner dates tie with walking dates for my favorite way to socialize. 🙂 (food and exercise, what a surprise ;)).
I hope you had a fabulous Monday and are enjoying getting back to “the daily grind”.
