All my love and thoughts today go out to those affected by the earthquake in Japan this morning and the subsequent tsunami’s happening around the world.
Hearing the news of this natural disaster that changed lives in a few seconds and forever got me thinking about the following quote by the Dalai Lama.
When asked what surprises him most about humanity, he replied
“Men, because they lose their health to earn money, then they lose that money to stay healthy;
they think anxiously about the future and forget the present…so they neither enjoy the present nor the future;
they live as if they are never going to die and die realizing that they never really lived!”
This resonates all too deep with me, as it does with many people.
I live a good life. I am healthy and safe and surrounded by people who love me yet I find myself worrying about the future and not always being fully present in and appreciative of TODAY.
TODAY’S THE DAY.
If I live my best day today than all the tomorrow’s will take care of themselves.
So today I will take pleasure in the simple gifts of now.
And practice gratitude for each moment.
Thank you for this beautiful thought & reminder, Faith.
Thank you Faith, for putting my feelings today into such beautiful and graceful words. Sending prayers to our friends all over the world who are being touched by these events. A reminder perhaps of how we really are a global family.
I too like to think of people being a global family, thanks for saying that.

Thanks for sharing this, it is very relevant for me today. I tend to stress out about my future tremendously. Today I will take the day in gratitude instead and celebrate all that I have accomplished and the amazing life that I do have.
Thank you, Joanna, this made me smile.
Today I’m copping an attitude of gratitude. Thanks for the reminder.
I couldn’t agree more!
It is so important to be thankful for what we have…we are blessed with some many great things.
Thank you for such an inspirational post. I love the quote….so true!!!
This is a beautiful reminder. Thank you for sharing!
Your posts are always thoughtful and inspiring. Thanks!
And can you post your cilantro crema recipe from your dinner party? It looks delicious… do you just serve it as a side garnish?
Thanks Toni. I will post about the avo-cilantro crema right now.
Beautifully put! What a lovely little reminder. I think I might print out this post and tape it to my mirror or something.
ps. I’m a lurker de-lurking for the first time. 🙂
Happy weekend!
Lovely to “meet” you Dee, thanks for reading!
