Turn Words into Action

Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

-Tome Krause

My thoughts became my words and my words became my actions!

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about  lacking motivation and momentum in a few areas of my life.  I was ready to make a change and hoped that by putting my intentions out there into the cyberworld-and to all my blog friends-it would help kick my ass into gear.

It worked!

I have two exciting teaching opportunities coming up, new dance connections and performance opportunities, and a new training client!

On July 12th I start a six-week class at ACAC.  The Dance Hour is a modern dance based exercise class that will focus on getting a great full body workout and the amazing feeling of dancing.  Kath is already signed up and has requested we spend the last ~15 minutes of each class building a little bit of choreography and I love the idea!  By the end of the series we will have 2-3 minutes of choreography to really get us moving!  If you are in the Cville area and interested in joining us; the class is open to members and non-members, dancers and non-dancers.  Come on down! More info can be found on this ACAC page.

The lovely Robin Truxel is also interested in having me combine dance and exercise at her gorgeous Pilates studio, Tru Pilates.  We are currently gathering interest for a mat Pilates class that would incorporate Modern and Ballet technique.  C’villians, here’s more info!

I am super excited to get back into the studio and share two of my loves-dance and exercise-with Charlottesville.  Before I moved to Peru in 2009 I was teaching 6-9 classes each week and loved that each day I got to go into a studio and exercise with tons of awesome students.

I did hold some great spare-bedroom-turned-Pilates-studio classes in our apartment in Peru but it’s already been a year and a half since we left Lima!  Man, time flies!  Did June just sprint out the door for anyone else?  Friday is July!

And it’s already 10:30am!  Better sprint out the door myself before it gets too hot for my run!

  1. Wonderful! I’m so excited for you — I knew you would make things happen. The only bummer is your classes sound AMAZING, & I’m across the country. 😉 boo. Seriously. I’ve been wanting to amp up my pilates (& think it would be fun to incorporate dance) & can’t find classes I’m happy with here. I always think “man, I wish I could do pilates with Faith.”
Keep making the most of your talents & enjoy the hell out of yourself!!

  2. Glad to hear about your upcoming classes. When I saw the poster of the one class on KERF I wished I lived closer so I could sign-up too. Guess I’ll have to find something like that locally. I’ll bet Lawrence (small town but big college town) would have something along those lines and it’s only a 30 minute drive.

  3. My boyfriend is currently in Lima! About to fly back home to the states! I’m in Alaska, so unfortunately, I too cannot partake in your pilates

  4. I’m in Cville for some of that time and I would love to try your dance class but I cant come for the whole 6 weeks since I’m just taking a summer class….could I maybe come by to a couple of classes? It sounds fun! (Just so you know, I am a teenager!) I took a Body Pump class with Kath on Monday but this sounds like a lot of fun!

  5. I wish so badly that I lived there because I would absolutely sign up for this class! As a former dancer, I miss structured classes like this. I am 30 yrs old and the classes around me either target younger kids or a “club style” of dance, and I just want a good old fashioned dance class. Congrats on bringing something so fun to people!!

    • Aww, I wish you were here too! I agree, it’s challenging to find a good, intermediate dance class for adults. I am thrilled to be offering this class and hope it keeps going after this 6 week session is up.
