“Begin at the beginning….and go on till you come to the end: then stop.” Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I was grading papers for my college dance class earlier today and one paragraph in particular stuck out to me. One of my students, a young women with type 1 diabetes, wrote that the strongest focus in her life was reaching a healthy place; a healthy weight, healthy habits, a healthy diet, regular exercise.
First of all, I love that she sees her physical health as paramount to her well-being. Second of all, I had to refrain from writing a novel on her paper in my red grading pen. What I wanted to say was “oh honey, health isn’t a destination, it’s a journey”.
Is it ever really possible to reach health? I understand that making dietary changes, losing/gaining weight, or increasing/decreasing exercise can make you healthier but then we must maintain this newly achieved health.
I just congratulated an acquaintance on buying his first house. He said that he just wanted it to be over. I replied, “it’s never over!”. Home ownership is a bit like health, it takes consistent maintenance, TLC, and there are always ways to make improvements.
HAWMC Day 18!
Oh my goodness! Please do not tell me about that (in regards to purchasing a home!)
The hubby and I were just going over what all needed to be done after we moved in. Being an adult is hard work!
Look forward to hearing back from you soon. Take care.
Being an adult is hard work!! Ha! Homeowner-ship require never ending maintenance but a lot of it is fun and enjoyable! It’s really rewarding to own a home, you’ll love it!
