5 Small Challenges and 5 Small Victories
The challenge: Running a marathon. The victory: Every. Single. Mile.
The challenge: Eating healthy while traveling around the world. The victory: Seeking out nutrients at farm stands and grocery stores but not stressing over a few meals of boiled white rice or crackers.
The challenge: Finding healthy and productive ways to deal with a health issue. The victory: An ability to see the big picture.
The challenge: Years and years of insomnia. The victory: Sweet, sweet, sound sleep.
The challenge: Living in four different cities over ten years. The victory: Developing a sense of home and community in each of them.
Post a comment! I’d love to hear your challenges and the victories of dealing with them!
My challenge was learning how to eat healthfully in a foreign country (Argentina) with crazy ideas about nutrition and body image. The victory: developing a deeper passion and more skills for cooking, that I wouldn’t have developed had I not been challenged.
Eating out in Argentina was very challenging for me but I cooked more there than in any other country we traveled to. I ate lots of butternut squash, eggs, and (great) cheese. Tate would grab a steak too and we’d cook our meals in the hostel kitchens and drink copious amounts of Malbec…good memories. The cultural body image issue I think I can relate to from my time in Peru.
Great post, Faiffy! I wouldn’t call any of those challenges or victories “small”.
It’s all small shit, no? 😉
