*sigh*
The life of a gardener is a humbling one.
I was downright cocky back in June. Everything was lush and growing so fast and beautiful.
Enter August and my garden ate shit.
The tomato leaves wilted and browned. The water logged ‘maters fell before their time.
Not a single green bean from the dozens of seeds sown. (Blasted groundhog!!)
The kale met a premature death-by-rodent.
Yellow squash blossomed and rotted.
There was one perfect week in the beginning of July where I was harvesting as fast as I could.
Currently I am watching a lovely compost butternut squash take shape though. 🙂
And getting creative with green tomatoes.
There may still be hope for these cukes, the flowers look pretty good. I’ve been making these AWESOME lacto-fermented (salt, not vinegar, and thus probiotic filled) cucumber pickles. Will probably post soon.
Luckily I suffer from gardeners amnesia and am already excitedly counting my fall crops before they sprout. 😉
Your garden looks a lot better than mine!
Faith, I miss reading about your graceful ways. I hope all is well.
Your garden looks magnificent! Great work on keeping it fresh and vibrant through cold weather (:
