I am a country girl at heart. I love dark, starry nights, fresh air, being surrounded by trees, and when “noise pollution” refers to the crickets and birds. Although I haven’t lived in the woods for over 15 years I am grateful every time I get to visit.
There are these great cabins in the Blue Ridge Mountains that you can rent out by the night and Saturday night I stayed, with seven other women, at the quaint little “Wineberry”. It was out second annual Babes in the Woods (or Badass Bitches in the Woods works too 😉 ) cabin expedition and we had a lovely time hiking, sipping wine and hot chocolate, stoking the fire, and eating really well.
Most of the cabins are “walk-in” (ours was about a half a mile hike in) and quite rustic; no electricity or running water. It’s only a step up from camping but in the winter it feels like a BIG step up once you get the wood stove cranked up.
Here is Nearly Wordless Wednesday, the cabin edition.
If you are in the Eastern US right now, I wish you a cozy day at home tomorrow (or playing in the snow!).
It’s Day 5 (of 12) of the One Hour Plank Challenge, have you planked yet today? Get today’s workout on the Gracefulfitness Facebook page, here’s the link.
