My Zayda was a hell of a man.
Or as you’d say in Yiddish, a hell of a mensch. 😉
This man impacted people everywhere he went. Â He was quick to flash a huge smile and healthy dose of optimism on any situation and yet not afraid to give tough love and thoughtful advice.
One year ago today he passed on. Â His legacy, however, is alive and thriving in his children and his children’s children and in the hundreds of others his spirit touched over his 94 year adventure on earth.
Today’s One Word Wednesday post is in honor of this great man, Abner Levine. Â (I need to come up with a new name for these posts, I rarely stick to the ‘rules’…). Â The pictures are from about 30 years ago and were grabbed out of a photo album that my grandparents handed over to me several years ago (my grandfather LOVED photography and took thousands of pictures over his lifetime, I definitely think he influenced my love of it.). With each photo is a life lesson that sums up my Zayda.
Hard to type with all these tears. I am linking this to my FB page. Faith, your photo essayed encapsulated your Zayda. He intently shared his photos, and sent them (prints from film) in custom printed envelopes that had a cute graphic and read “You’ve been taken by Abby”. thanks for these memories.
Thanks Faith for helping us remember the joy and love he gave to all of us.
What your papa said esp tears! Love mom
Thank you Faith!
We are definitely reflective today on what was an overwhelming dose of sadness just 1-year ago. While the pain is still there and comes back at random moments, we also have moved forward and carried his legacy with us all. Thank you for so eloquently capturing his spirit.
Love Joshy
Faith, what a lovely tribute to your grandfather. He must be smiling!
