Work Jacks
I feel like I just awoke from hibernation!
And in a way I did, I was so wiped out last night that I was in bed by 9 and asleep shortly after. By the time I made it downstairs this morning and looked at the clock it was 8:30am! That’s a lotta sleeping and just what I needed to keep my immune system up to par.
The last two days have been primarily about work at the orchard. Business is slowing down for the season (we will close Thanksgiving weekend until Spring) so there is a lot of time for…
jumping jacks!
That’s right, I did jumping jacks at work yesterday. I felt like a dork but it also felt so good to get my heart rate up and “sneak” in a bit of exercise. I was working in the kitchen by myself for most of the morning so whenever I finished a task I jumped out 20 jacks. 20 jacks is super-fast yet enough to give your heart that little lift and not enough to make you break a sweat. Perfect for work! I lost track but I did at least 5 minutes worth of “interval training” 😉 over the course of the day. Every little bit counts!
On Sunday morning Tate was pondering what to do for the day and I suggested he come to work with me and ride his bike home. He was game!
On the drive out I asked him what his route was, his reply? ” I don’t know yet, I’ll figure it out on my iPhone”. So then I asked him how far it was going to be, “I don’t know” he said! Men! Had the situation been reversed, I would have needed days to plan a ride like this, including carefully mapping my route and knowing to the tenth of a mile how far I was going to be riding and an estimated duration! Maybe I exaggerate slightly but really? He just hoped on his bike out in the country, 20 miles from home, in 37 degree air, and rode into the rising sun! Love this man.
When I got home from work that day he said the ride was really nice. It took him an hour and he wasn’t cold. I, on the other hand, froze my behind off in the barn we call the farmstand! There are garage doors open on two sides of the building and while it’s lovely to working in the fresh air, sometimes the air is a little too fresh! 35 degree breezes really chill you to the bones! At least I am surrounded by beautiful things.
These Pink Ladies are SO GOOD!
This is a new apple to me, and it’s super local judging from the name! Ablemarle is county surrounding C’ville. Have you ever seen these outside of VA?
Alrighty, time to wrap it up. Check back later today for my review of the movie happythankyoumoreplease, you are going to want to see this film!
p.s. my inner thighs are a wee bit sore from those hundreds of jumping jacks yesterday!
